REPORT: Enraged Muslim farmer attempts suicide after Telangana govt
hands his land to Golf Course in Hyderabad, MBT leader Amjed Ullah Khan
visits victim
Hyderabad:
Ilyas Ahmed, a Muslim farmer, tried to commit suicide by consuming
pesticide. The victim took the extreme step after the Telangana
government acquired his land and handed over to Golf Course in Fort area
in Hyderabad. Mr. Ahmed’s two brothers also attempted suicide by
pouring kerosene. The victim was admitted to Premier Hospital in the
city. Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) leader Amjed Ullah Khan soon after
hearing the news rushed to the hospital and met the victim seeking his
welfare.
Amjed
Ullah Khan, a young dynamic leader heads a breakaway faction of
Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM, and has been constantly struggling through his
party MBT to uphold the ideals for which the AIMIM was formed. Mr. Khan
is also an Ex-Corporator of Azampura Division falling under Greater
Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.
During
his meeting with Mr. Khan the victim Mr Ahmed lamented that nearly 52
acres of their farming land belonging to 54 farmers on which nearly 500
family members are depended was taken on 29th Oct 2013 for making
National Bird Sanctuary by the state government and were promised that
they will be given compensation or land will be given near Hyderabad.
But the said land was given to Golf Course by the state government.
Since then they had been approaching the District Collector, Hyderabad,
and concerned Ministers but no action was taken to allot them the land
or compensation.
They
even met present Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao of TRS who was then
heading movement for a separate Telangana and he promised that once
Telangana state is formed and his party comes to power he will solve
their problem, but leave alone solving their problem the same K
Chandrasekhar Rao after becoming the Chief Minister visited the Golf
Course at Golconda Fort area and even inaugurated some portions of it.
Mr Ilyas
and other farmers and residents of Golconda area told MBT leader Amjed
Ullah Khan that not only their farming land was handed over to a private
party Golf Course but even the Wakf land of Masjid E Mustafa Khan
(28.11 Acres) in Survey No: 40 and 13 acres belonging to Masjid E Mullah
Khayali was also handed over to the managing committee of Golf Course.
The local Muslim leaders approached with the then late Afsar Khan MIM
party MLA of Karwan Assembly Constituency and even met Asaduddin Owaisi,
Member of Parliament of Hyderabad and AIMIM Party President. Mr. Owaisi
did not provide any kind of help in this regard and even kept quite on
all Illegal activities of Managing Committee of Golf Course. The local
Muslims gave number of representations to the then Chairman Wakf Board
and also the Special Officer Wakf Board but no action was taken to
protect the damage to Wakf properties by Golf Course. The local Muslims
along with Syed Aziz Pasha (Ex MP) CPI gave a dharna at the office of
Wakf Board at Nampally, but all were arrested and kept in Illegal
detention at Banjara Hill police station.
The said
affected farmers even tried to meet K Chandrasekhar Rao, Chief Minister,
during his visit to Golconda Fort during flag hoisting on 15th Aug but
were denied and only their application was taken and assured of
necessary help by his personal secretary but till today no action was
taken till today.
Aggrieved
by no help from the state government or AIMIM and no livelihood to
serve their families, Ilyas Ahmed and his two brothers tried to attempt
suicide but were saved by timely help by local people. Mr. Ahmed and his
brothers had warned the government and AIMIM that if their land is not
given back or compensation is given to them they will commit suicide
along with entire family in future.
MBT
leader Amjed Ullah Khan has assured that he will represent the said
matter with K Chandrasekhar Rao, Chief Minister, and also Mehmood Ali,
Deputy Chief Minister, who also holds the revenue portfolio, and see
that their issued is settled amicable. Mr. Khan also assured that he
will meet the Special Officer Wakf Board also to know about the facts of
Wakf land of Masjid E Mustafa Khan (28.11 Acres) in Survey No: 40 and
13 acres belonging to Masjid E Mullah Khayali being given to Golf
Course.
