Press note*Every year thousands of daily wage earners are migrating to Telangana from neighboring Odisha State to work in the brick kiln. Their children get excluded from the primary education during their 6-8 months of stay. Therefore the Rachakonda police along with Rangareddy district administration and Brick kiln owners association collaborated with international NGO Aide et Action to provide education to migrant children. Since the beginning of his year as many as 389 migrant children were enrolled in various government schools at Rangareddy district.
To provide education and protection to migrant children, the Rachakonda Police Commissionerate under the leadership of Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat, IPS and Rangareddy district collector Lokesh Kumar D.S, IAS district, organised a meeting on Saturday.
The programme was supported by brick kiln owners association and Aide et Action NGO.
Mr. Bhagwat said that in the last 2 years the police are working for the betterment of migrant laborers in the Rachakonda Commissionerate. During last academic year as part of “Operation Smile” over 350 child labor were rescued and enrolled them to Government schools with the help of Aide et Action.
“Aide et Action helped a lot in bringing Odisha teacher to provide Odia language,” the commissioner said.
Further, Mr. Bagawat instructed the Brick kiln owners that they must allow the labourers to visit their native places during the emergency cases.
While, Mr. Lokesh Kumar said the owners should follow rules and regulations, and instructed them not to engage children in the brick kiln work sites. “Every child should be in school, every child has right to education,” he said.
“Behalf of the administration we will provide education, health, ICDS and sanitation facilities to the migrant families and children,” the Collector said.
As of now there are no anganwadi centres but now onwards will provide all the nutritious food and owners should arrange a place for setting up Anganwadi centres, where children can come and sit comfortably.
The government is ready to to provide necessary things and also instructed the owners to pay the wages directly to labourers not to middlemen, during the time of labourers recruitment also owners should not entertain middlemen until they registered in the labor department.

Talked about welfare and education for the migrated children, all the brick kiln owners should provide free education and basic immunities to the migrant children. We (Aide et Action) are always there to help you out in providing teachers, we always tries to help you to provide education, we look the pre-departure of labor migrants to again sending back to them to their homes, once the season is completed with help of Telangana Government we will go to Odisha and join the migrated children in the Government schools. Children welfare and education is the most prior to us and we have to give full immunization to the infants but it’s not happening and requested to district collector to look in the matter. All the owners are providing mid day meal to children its great initiation. Rachakonda Police Commissionerate is working towards zero child labor and CP has taken big step to help out the migrants
In these programme government representatives from Revenue department RDOs, DEO, Ituka Battila Sangam President, Police department officials, Labor department and Brick kiln owners have participated in the programme.
